What I do at work: updated

Okay, I have described what I do to some of you verbally, but I am sure most of you dont even know what I do at work in B&Q. This picture tells it. Those blue boxes (or called totes, the jargon at B&Q) contains small bits of stock that I have to put away in their place. The picture shows me in the plumbing aisle, and in the background are all the tiny bits of pipework on pegs or boxes. So I took the small bits of plumbing items from the blue boxes, and I put them to their places in the back of the picture. Thats basically what I do everyday at work. But thats not all, sometimes i do heavy works as well. And on Sunday I tidy up the store. Kemas2 sikit. Kuli batak la katakan. But I like the job. Nice and easy.

Answering the call from atoy, I'm putting this up as well. We're not all serious at work, sometimes we play with the machines. There a a lot of machines to play (bare in mind we're not supposed to), this one is called a WAVE machine for putting stuff in high places (hey its really high sometimes, not just for someone who is vertically challenged like me) and theres the power pallet truck, but no atoy we cant play with the forklift machine - we need a licence for it. Its a lot bigger and more dangerous. Ouh and there's the electric wheelchair as well hahaha

Anyone remembered my hair?

As you can see I am browsing through my pictures collection again hence the multiple updating of my blog. Pictures tell a thousand words. missed this hair and since I am going to be here in UK for the next 4 years, this hair might grow again. Thats 2 years of my hair in the picture. Cut them last summer because my father wont take me anywhere. There's once my dad asked me to follow him go camping in Pangkor "Hah adi minggu depan buat pa? jom ikut abah pi camping kat pangkor" and then he hesitated for 2 seconds and then said "Huumm takpalah tak payah ikutlah". When asked why, my dad answered plainly "malu kat kawan2 ghambut hang tu panjang..abah dah la cikgu" hahaha then I cut my hair. Its also for my engagement la =)

And again

Well, this was an embarassing moment. Anak bapak, you might say. But this was Mr J in my side on the bus to KL. Cant remember why he was on the bus with us..oh I might remember actually. Maybe the Computing class trip to the Mimos Centre somewhere near Bukit Jalil but I'm really not sure.

The story:

I came into the bus first, then Mr J (or Abang J, some might call him) came in and sat beside me. We never actually met before, at least not one on one like that. So there was an awkward moment there. Then realizing the tense in the small little space between us, he started a conversation "Erm..ape nama awak?" and I answered short "Junaidi". Full stop. Few moments later, he asked again "Awak ni asal dari mana?" Short again I answered "Sungai Petani, Kedah." Then, not knowing what to ask again both of us pretended to sleep. I dont know, I am anyway.

For the rest of the 45 minute trip to KL, I was talking to myself: "wwwooiiii bila nak sampai nihhh!!!"

haha and then the next thing i know syuen showed me this picture he took of us. You can actually see my eyebrows berkerut-kerut memikirkan nasib diriku yang malang oh tuhan. Damn I wouldnt wanna be put next to him again ever. I mean ever. haha

Gotta put this up

Those were the "veterans" that came in the KMYS Alumni Weekend (yeah, KMYUEM, whatever) in Southampton. Looks like a regular poyo pose of all of us. But theres some corner worth emphasizing:

yeah..go dug. hahahahaha

Story Of A Watch

Hum...thats quite some time since the last update..been to many places since I last updated 3 weeks ago. Been to Nottingham, Coventry, and Southampton. No need to further eloborate these because you guys can catch up by reading other's blog.

The story for today, is the story of a watch. Not much, but considering I'm actually updating is dah cukup besar tuah dah.

Okay, this watch, a Victorinox Swiss Army Excursion has gone a long way back in my memory, at least 2 years. I first saw this watch in Luzern, Switzerland and I immediately fell in love at first sight. I shoulda bought it there and then. But, thanks to others in the Switzerland trip, who says "U dont need to buy it now, we're in Switzerland there'll be many more watch shops and you'll maybe getting a better bargain for the same watch, or some better watch." So I let it go.

Unfortunately didn't come across any more watch shops worth looking at because our Switzerland trip are more of a sightseeing one, not a shopping spree type. Frustrated not getting a watch in Switzerland, I bought a watch for Shu, liking it while a few days later when it arrived to Shu in Japan, the watch is the same as the one her bestfriend there is wearing! damn. But she liked it and I liked it so let it be.

Then I have forgotten about this Victorinox for quite some time until I saw it back in Malaysia (in One Utama to be exact) last summer. But it was the end of summer when I'm nearly broke, which if I saw it when I just got back in June I would just buy it in a flick. So thats a bugger off again.

Its getting boring, but just keep reading coz there's a twist. hehe.

Then, last month my Timex was broken. Used to wearing a watch all the time I started looking for a watch, and living here in the UK and earning in pound sterling I could buy a better watch this time. Then saw the Victorinox again at Redfingerprint.com which is based in California. Ordered it straight away, but getting doubts whether to buy just one better watch for my wedding hantaran or just buy two watches (one for hantaran, one for pakai hari-hari) I cancelled the order. Then few things happened, to cut the story short I ordered the same watch again from the same company.

The website states that "Our operation and distribution centers are located in Asia to lower overhead and shipping cost. This permits us to pass on the savings to you." Okay fair enough they want to cut costs.

Then, today the watch came in from Fedex after 3 days. Half awake, I signed the signature release form and got the package. The document on the shipment reads:

Sender:

Alex Teoh

G20, Pertama Complex,

Jln Tunku Abdul Rahman,

50100 Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia.

Huh. Cut cost la sangat. From Luzern, Switzerland to Pertama Complex, Kuala Lumpur. Whatever. At least I got my watch.

School Meme

Although I already posted a new entry like 30 seconds ago, I'm writing a new entry just to accept the baton from Ipe, and its on a subject I really love, school. Well, some of the guys who always talk to me would definitely heard my infamous starting quote "haaa aku masa sekolah dulu bla bla bla..." I just love school.
Well here goes:
How many schools did I go to?
Well (counting my fingers) its 4. The first one was Sekolah Rendah Ibrahim, Sungai Petani. Been there from Standard 1 until February in my Standard 6. As a result to me playing all the time in kindergarten I was put in the last class in the school where I dont belong because most of other students were Indian (strictly no racism intentions here) who goes like "Cikgu aku mau pegi tandas" and was the smacked right then on the face by the teacher. I never really knew them, they got all their friends among them and never wanted to befriend me. And they talk Tamil all the time so how could I blend in?
I was kinda popular in school among my friends, well call it self-appointed but I was a naughty kid back then. I brought slingshot (lastik) to shoot birds from class, break tables and chairs, steal the fish from the school pond, turned my class's blackboard onto a bullseye target for my self-made darts, tikam (yeah gambling, I was addicted to it back then depan sekolah) and most of the time I blew my lunch money on it. I was a target to the teachers to smack and when I left the school in my prime years of standard six, most of my mates called me chicken for not staying until the end.
I went to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Tok Pawang, Bedong, Kedah for the next few months. The reason behind this was my father intended for me to enter a boarding school after primary years, the school being a sekolah luar bandar which should boost my chance to enter a boarding school. But I blew it by getting 3A 1B in UPSR. Darn karangan menyimpang dari tajuk brought me down.
Then Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Layar. Dapat la jugak duduk asrama walaupun bukan sekolah asrama penuh. Well I dont really know what boarding school means anyway back then. Duduk asrama la jugak ape bezanye? hahaha. Well still being the bad boy that I am, but I think this was when I toned down the least. Did some bad stuff as well, but not really seen as a bad student by teachers since I got the first or second place in the whole form in every exam (yeah they were blinded by this) so what ever bad thing I do was compensated by my results, and the fact that my father was the Naib Pengerusi PIBG.
Then after getting 8As in my PMR I moved to Sekolah Menengah Sultan Abdul Halim, Jitra, Kedah (Jenan). Finally a boarding school. I fit very well among the students there, and me being a good barber back then I got some good backings from the seniors from anyone who want to pukul me. Get this: I fly (lompat pagar, or cross as it was called there) during my first week there. Got really excited during the next few weeks and I even fly during afternoons, which leads to me getting caught in the act after a month I'm there. Which lead to me getting stripped to my underwear (my shirt was still on) because apparently I don't wear my outing attire at the moment, but a jeans and a fancy shoe! Of course I dont wear my outing attire, I'm flying, what am I supposed to wear? My baju batik, while squatting through the school fence and bushes? The I had to run to the dorm from the gatehouse, past some junior's classes while having only my shirt and underwear on. How great was that on your first month there?
The next question,
Was I the studious nerd, or the last minute hero?
Anybody out there ever seen me study outside exam weeks? Of course I'm a last minute man. Until now. Even so, I still got 1st or 2 in the whole form in Sungai Layar (I wouldnt mention primary school, I was a rascal and, who studied for exams in primary school? pwerghh) But when I moved to Jenan I was quite in the middle on the list. Around the 50s out of 120 or something. I always failed Add Maths, Physics and Chem. Every exam. Its maybe my bad but some of it I dare to blame my teacher. For Add maths, the I can remember the marks on every semester exams respectively from Form4 which was 8, 7, 16, and then 24%. and then as close to passing as 38% on my SPM trial. hahahahah! Never really bothered back then and I was never good in maths anyway. Then comes my fiancee, shu into the story.
We were in the same class ( I am the ketua tingkatan, she's my vice) and we started as a couple in July in our Form5. That was nearly six years ago, time was really quick and the next thing we know I'm marrying her this August=) Back to the story. As soon we are together, she was getting some abuse from this other girl who admired me since I moved to the school, and this other girl was a great influence among the girls as she being a prefect and badan dakwah committee. She publicly verbally attacked Shu during usrahs of after prayer talks and after a while it was getting too much and there was a serious couple case (I dont want to get more into this, a sensitive subject to my schoolmate) and she wont want to see me in school anymore. Dont get me wrong, we're still a couple but we couldnt see each other, only in class. Takleh dating la...adehh.
The girls had to walk past my classroom to get to the dining hall or other places from the girls hostel, so me missing Shu so much and not being able to see her everyday (eh sape tak sayang awek da?) waited in the classroom for her to walk pass it. And since I'm already in the classroom and nothing else in front of me instead of books (no iPod yet, no laptop with tv series yet) I studied. The trial was near anyways so it should do me good, I think.
So I studied the subjects one by one, doing one subject like Chem until its done and only then starting to do another such as Physics. And when some girls walked pass the room I eyed them looking for Shu. Its more like the quote "Alaa orang dah bercinta nih, nampak dia punya bumbung pun jadilahh". But I was too late, I just finished Physics when the trial arrives and I dont have time to study Add maths. As a result, I got 10As and 1 fail (yeah Add maths, ape lagi and I took 11 subjects) despite being on the first place in the whole form. My my said to me and I quote "junub nih study pickup dia kalah Evo VII!" Most teachers all kutuk me for failing that SPM trial add maths exam. Even an overseas Shell sponsorship application form was not given to me, but to 5 other people under my name on the list. Hows thats?
But it aint so bad, I took the results list with everyone's name and my name on the top to my dad, and demanded a motorcycle that I wanted so much and asked since Form3. Went with my dad the next day to buy me the bike, he just couldnt say anything. hahaha what a bad boy I am. Brought the bike to school during SPM week (bear in mind I'm in a boarding school, but I managed to get the bike in and out everyday without getting caught, by posing as the dining hall guy). Managed to pass the SPM add maths for the first time, getting 10A 1B. To be precise, 8A1, 2A2 and 1B3, which was add maths but that was good enough for me recalling all those F9s I'm getting.
So, answering the question, I am a last minute man but for once in my life I have actually been a studious nerd, for a reason. And the reason was worth the struggle =)
Yeah tu la aku dah ckp aku suka subject nih..jgn tanya pasal sekolah tgk byk mana dah tertulis. Baru dua soalan. Nanti la tgk kalo aku nak sambung. letih dah nih. cau.

February Employee Of The Month

Dear Muhammid, (thats what they call me - never bothered to correct them)
Congratulations on being nominated for Winner of February's Night Crew Employee Of The Month.
Your nomination comes directly from your collegues who have recognised your performance within the Nightcrew team.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your role, which along with your collegues make our Nightcrew the success that it is.
Well done and keep up the hard work.
Darren, Norman and Andy (the managers)

Well, which part in there says that I'm actually a student? hahahah this is totally reversed for me. I'm now a full time worker, part time student. The nomination results as during the past month I was really determined to do some extra overtimes (note that its extra, means I do overtimes all the time but this is extra to those) which I calculated to be double the time I should actually work. Which meaaannnsss double the pay end of this month. And during those times I helped few guys at work with their tasks and and i think they are just thanking me for it. I dont really hope for the nomination (though can be expected) but really I'm in for the money money money. At the end of it, an extra over a grand a month cant be too wrong can it? Sekali kena kumpul duit nak kawin daaa.
